Do I need a referral for physical therapy in Media, PA
No — in most cases, you do not need a physician referral to start physical therapy in Pennsylvania. Under the state’s direct access law, licensed physical therapists can evaluate and treat patients without a referral for a limited period. That said, some insurance plans still require a referral or physician order for PT visits to be covered, so it’s worth checking with your insurance provider beforehand. Kinetic’s Media clinic can help verify your specific coverage and requirements — call (610) 424-1100 to get started.
Does Kinetic Physical Therapy accept insurance
Yes — Kinetic Physical Therapy accepts most major insurance plans, including PPOs and many HMOs. Coverage and benefits vary by plan, so we recommend calling (610) 424-1100 before your first visit so our team can verify your specific insurance benefits and any referral requirements.

How do I schedule a physical therapy appointment at Kinetic in Media?
To schedule a physical therapy appointment at Kinetic’s Media (Rocky Run) clinic, call (610) 424-1100 to speak with our team directly, or request an appointment through the “Schedule Now” or “Request an Appointment” option on kineticptpa.com. No physician referral is required in most cases to get started under Pennsylvania’s direct access law, though we recommend having your insurance information ready when you call.
What should I bring to my first physical therapy appointment?
For your first physical therapy appointment at Kinetic, bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a physician referral if your insurance requires one. It’s also helpful to bring a list of current medications, any relevant medical records or imaging results (such as X-rays or MRI reports), and comfortable clothing that allows easy movement of the area being treated. Arriving a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork is also recommended.
How long does a typical PT session last?
A typical physical therapy session at Kinetic lasts about 45 to 60 minutes, though your first visit may take longer to allow time for a full evaluation and to build your personalized treatment plan. Session length and frequency will vary based on your specific condition and recovery goals.
How much does physical therapy cost without insurance?
The cost of physical therapy without insurance varies depending on the type of evaluation and treatment needed. Kinetic offers self-pay (cash) rates for patients without insurance coverage or who prefer to pay out of pocket. Call (610) 424-1100 to get current self-pay pricing and discuss payment options with our team.
Can physical therapy help with lower back pain?
Yes — physical therapy is one of the most effective, non-invasive treatments for lower back pain. Kinetic’s therapists identify the underlying cause of your pain, whether it’s disk herniation, sciatica, muscle strain, spinal stenosis, or general instability, and build a personalized treatment plan combining manual therapy, targeted exercise, and education to relieve pain, restore mobility, and prevent future flare-ups. Call (610) 424-1100 to schedule an evaluation.
Can PT help me avoid knee replacement surgery?
Physical therapy can help many patients manage knee pain, improve strength and mobility, and delay or reduce the need for knee replacement surgery, particularly in cases of mild to moderate arthritis or early joint degeneration. However, whether PT alone can help you avoid surgery depends on the severity of your condition, and is a decision best made with your physician. Kinetic’s therapists work alongside your medical team to build a plan focused on strengthening the muscles around the joint, improving range of motion, and reducing pain, whether the goal is to avoid surgery or prepare for it. Call (610) 424-1100 to schedule an evaluation.
Do you treat sports injuries at the Media clinic?
Yes — Kinetic’s Media (Rocky Run) clinic treats sports injuries for athletes of all levels, including sprains, strains, ligament tears (such as ACL, MCL, and meniscus injuries), tendinitis, and post-surgical recovery. Treatment plans are tailored to help athletes safely return to their sport with improved strength, mobility, and performance. Call (610) 424-1100 to schedule an evaluation.
Can physical therapy help with sciatica?
Yes — physical therapy is highly effective for treating sciatica. Kinetic’s therapists identify the underlying cause of nerve irritation, often a disk herniation or spinal stenosis in the lumbar spine, and build a treatment plan using targeted exercise, manual therapy, and postural correction to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve, reduce pain, and restore mobility. Call (610) 424-1100 to schedule an evaluation.
What's the difference between a physical therapist and a chiropractor?
In many cases, you can see a physical therapist first without needing a physician
referral, thanks to Direct Access in Pennsylvania. A physical therapist can evaluate your
condition and determine whether conservative treatment is appropriate or if you should
be referred to an orthopedic specialist for additional evaluation.
How do I know if I need physical therapy?
You may benefit from physical therapy if you’re experiencing persistent pain, stiffness, or swelling; difficulty with everyday movements like walking, bending, or climbing stairs; reduced range of motion; recurring injuries; or if you’re recovering from surgery, a sports injury, or an accident. Balance issues, chronic headaches, dizziness, and pelvic floor symptoms can also be signs that physical therapy could help. If you’re unsure, Kinetic offers free consultations to evaluate your symptoms and determine whether PT is right for you. Call (610) 424-1100 to get started.
